Yvette, don’t tell schoolboys to call themselves feminists

11 July 2014

In the Independent this week, Yvette Cooper suggested that British boys should grow up as ‘confident feminists’. They need to have lessons in feminism to help them learn how to treat women, she argued.

A quick lesson for the shadow home secretary: school shouldn’t be a place where you indoctrinate pupils to believe a particular ideology. And feminism, for all its admirable achievements in the 20th century, is an ideology. Let’s not forget that.

Compulsory sex education in which boys are taught to be feminists is beyond silly. By all means explain that they shouldn’t go round lifting up girls’ skirts for a peek, but it’s possible to do this without telling them they must call themselves feminists. They might not like that kind of prescription. Schoolboys do tend to be a bit… truculent.

British schools already teach children about many of the prevailing ideologies that have shaped their short lives. But look and learn Yvette: you teach kids about the Nazis; you don’t dictate to them not to become little fascists. You don’t sit them down and tell them totalitarianism is wrong; you suggest they read Brave New World and Animal Farm – then ask them what they make of it. Same goes for feminism. Sylvia Plath and Virginia Woolf give good lessons – add their works to the curriculum. Show schoolboys feminism (and schoolgirls, for that matter), but don’t expect them to identify as feminists.

What about telling them how Tony the phony Blair removed the cottaging and dogging cops to allow these perverts a free run and Cameron does not look like replacing them?

  • Tubbo

This is basically already being done here in Sweden.

It should be noted that the Sedish feminist party, that now has a candidate in the EU, actually proposed initially, in their program, that all men should be send to re-educationcamps.

    Let that sink in..

    Feminism’s “admirable achievements”?
LOL! Yeah the destruction of Western masculinity and fatherhood, in a single century. Tremendously admirable.
Opposing the overt totalitarianism of Cooper and her global Chicken Coop in direct indoctrination of the prey (oops I mean boys) is hardly a blow against the Empire! No, instead, it’s a subtle way to approve of tyranny (but ADMIRABLE tyranny) while seeming not to.
What next? An article about how great abortion is because it cuts down on birth defects?

    • MrsDBliss

I’ll add to that one; the destruction of femininity and motherhood. After all their the ones who have kept silent about the abortion of girls, treat childbirth as a disease, the verb of mothering as belittling, reduced women to pitiable creatures who can’t take a joke and need the power of the state to punish others for hurt feelings as well as force people to employ them, they’ve made women dependent on the state and employers pretty much reversing the factory Act and for what? So elite women can have ‘careers’.

      • ray

You are so right, Mrs. Bliss. Thanks for expanding on my comment.

  • TrulyDisqusted

” You don’t sit them down and tell them totalitarianism is wrong; ” is this article really directed at Yvette Cooper of the UK Labour Party?

  • Gwangi

Men and women are NOT equal biologically, no matter what the BBC or the PC loons say. That includes aptitudes and abilities. These are hard-wired in our brains.
That is not to say that males and females are not worthy of equal respect or rights. But, typically, feminists want to deny men equality in law for men and women, as they defend the misandrist legal system which takes children away from their fathers and gives all power and rights to the mother, unless she is utterly unfit. Plus men get no anonymity when accused of vile crimes, but women do. Fair?
Feminism and fairness are as far apart as the grand Mufti and a gay wedding.

    • MrsDBliss

I used to teach RE and wrote and taught a unit in whether Christianity was sexist. At the outset I made the pupils define what equal is. They of course came up with the feminists lines; women should be able to do anything. My response was always this – if there is a world war 3, assuming that there are no nuclear weapons, do you think women should be forcefully conscripted the same as men? Always got a no. Funny that.

  • Gwangi

Oh gawd, the sanctimony of the pc mob knows no bounds… Yet again, they assume that what THEY think is good and just, so any opposing view must therefore be suspect and wrong, or ‘right wing’ for short.

The moral gymnastics they do when maintaining this position are staggering, as they support the fascist Hamas because they hate Israel and the USA too, for example…

The thing is, what is feminism? Most feminists see it NOT as having equal rights and value for men and women, but as a man-bashing ideology which demands superiority for women via quotas etc.

Feminism as it is understood is all about self-pity, gender discrimination against men, and stark hypocrisy. Oh yes, and a new sort of po-faced puritanism not seen in Britain since the Victorian age.

    • MrsDBliss

It is ultimately destroying women too. The idea of feminists, there is no none-physiological differences between the sexists, is now being used to justify men who have undergone surgery as being now women. With feminist ideology how do you argue against that?
In reality you can of course.

  • jesseventura2

Have Tony the phony Blair and the labour stooges not created enough cottagers and doggers?
Where is catholic Cherie on Tony withdrawing the cops from our public toilets and parks?

    • MrsDBliss

Cafeteria Catholics. Remember Tony joined and then decided to lecture the pope.

  • daviduk84

“school shouldn’t be a place where you indoctrinate pupils to believe a particular ideology”

The left think that is the *ONLY* reason schools exist.

    • GraveDave

Well Michael Gove is no lefty is he?

  • Bram

A case can be made for this indoctrination to have existed in the education system for decades. It should be classified as child abuse on an industrial scale. Up there with the socially engineered Ritalin epidemic in the US.

  • Ron Todd

Would labour propose teaching feminism in Muslim schools?

    • Gwangi

      Ha ha – good one!

    • Tim Baker

that would go against their number 1 policy of multiculturalism

  • Tom Prescott

Fair enough, as long as you teach all girls to be mens rights activists too.

Oh, wait, a bit too much equality.

  • Marcantonio Colonna

Feminism – violent, foul-mouthed, and working at a Burger King near you!

  • 20thcenturymax

Feminism is a collection of movements and ideologies aimed at defining, establishing, and defending a state of equal political, economic, cultural, and social rights for women. This includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment. A feminist advocates or supports the rights and equality of women.
How does this put men before women?

    • Tracheal

And you believe that diabolically dishonest definition?

      • Tom Prescott

diabolically dishonest it is indeed. modern feminism = misandry plain and simple.

    • Tom Prescott

“How does this put men before women?”

      well, lets see…..

You talk about “rights for WOMEN”
      “equal opportunities for WOMEN”
      “equality of WOMEN”

And then you ask why that is seen as putting women first?

Femenism is for females. the clue is in the name.

  • Ooh!MePurse!

    Teach them about Thatcher. Sorted.

  • Sam van den Berg

I deny absolutely and categorically that as a primary school boy I went around “lifting up girls’ skirts for a peek,” Being male I, like my fellow prepubescent male friends, used hi-tech methods by attaching a little mirror to our shoes. Admittedly it didn’t really work very well. There were dreadful things called “bloomers” in those days. My first two real peeks were offered to me — nay almost forced on me — by the little girls next door. I can’t remember being excited or traumatised by this; simply being very puzzled by the sheer mechanical inefficiency of what I was shown and wondering about how on earth they managed to pee properly. Next the boys in my class lived in absolute terror of a forceful girl who liked to “feel” the boys with considerable force. Leave the kids alone — they’re simply curious. Don’t project your personal pathology onto innocent children, Yvette.

    • Fergus Pickering

Innocent seems a little over the top. What you wanted was a seebakroscope, lad.

  • Winston Burchill

    Even most wimmin aren’t feminists!

  • JonBW

Can’t think of anything more likely to foster sexism, to be honest.

  • Thoughtful Ulsterman

What is really needed is some strong male role models to teach boys that the vast majority of what feminism has indoctrinated much if the population with over the past few decades is destructive twaddle, and that by listening to it they will either become gay, enter dysfunctional bitch-whipped relationships, or become sexual degenerates who leave a lot of fatherless children.

Boys need to be taught to be what, no matter what the degenerate feminists say, most women really want (as hard-coded in their genes) — to man up and strive to be the patriarchal leaders of their families and society.

    • Tom Prescott

      • Fergus Pickering

Ah, what most women REALLY want eh?

        • Tom Prescott

If someone says one thing then does another then I judge them by what they do rather than what they say.

and so do academics who have shown this dichotomy in research consistently spanning decades.

I think that the best guide to understanding what kind of man a woman wants is to look at what kind of men they sleep with and date. It really is that simple. The fact that some of them may claim to want a completely different type of man is neither here nor there. It is irrelevant. Men learn pretty quickly what works and what doesn’t when it comes to attracting women, and they see pretty quickly who is successful amongst their peers and who isn’t. It is not rocket science. What women want is demonstrated by what they choose!

          • Fergus Pickering

And what do they choose? In my experience women often choose the most unsuitable men and reject rich and successful ones, perhaps because the second type are so bloody dull and often physically unpleasant.

    • MrsDBliss

They want to hear that too.

    • jesseventura2

Leave a lot of fatherless children you mean like black immigrants?

  • Ricky Strong

What Yvette seems to miss in that article is the role of law, order, respect and discipline in society. These pilchards stand there acting completely dumbfounded about the gradual erosion of society scanning the skies around them for some magical solution when a simple mirror would gift them the elusive answer. The left are the problem, not what the traditional left first stood for but what they have become. I know I’m biased, I’m of the ‘right’ and I think Machiavelli made some damn good points but my word do these utter halfwits infuriate me.

  • GraveDave

Read Sylvia Plaith but not in the bathroom or kitchen.
    I eat men like air!

  • swatnan

Next she’ll be telling boys to go to Finishing School.

  • Peter Stroud

Yvette Cooper really is a silly woman. She gets so many things wrong: I pray she will never become Home Secretary.

    • Wessex Man

Home Secretary? she’s being beefed up as the next Labour Leader. The thought of this very silly strident person in control of Labour fills me with joy, she will be an even bigger turn off to any sane people left in the labour party and ensure that Labour will never reclaim power.

      • GraveDave

She wont get it, no more that Diane Abbot did. Despite Labour’s pretence to equality of gender and race, they’re run by the same self interests as the Tory Party.

        • Wessex Man

Yes this is true, there’s only one party that allows talent to rise to the top, male or female and that’s Ukip.

  • CrashDive

Yvette Cooper-Balls and co are Female Supremacists, nothing to do with equality or feminism.

They masquerade as feminists while aiming for privilege and special measures for women above men.

    • Tom Prescott

that is not a masquerade, that is what modern feminism IS!

    • Kitty MLB

Very well put. Feminism was supposed to be about intellectual equality and respect..and not a bunch of women
believing their gender in superior and requires special
treatment. Is that not what they spent decades fighting against.

  • Ted Cunterblast

This is what you get when you turn schoolboys into feminists:

    • Jkjljmt_Pqprpstt

Or, it turns them into sociopathic and slavering dog “playas”.

  • Kitty MLB

I am not too sure Yvette Cooper woul want boys to read
Brave New World ..not with the reconditioning centres for
The leftie nanny, pc correct world had gone absolutely bonkers.
School boys now need to call themselves feminists to understand
women..Do such women as Yvette Cooper Harriet Harmen ever
    show men the same understanding..
No one wishes for men to drag their knuckles along the floor
as much as they don’t think woman should be tied to the
kitchen sink or work as a lumberjack. But please could we
keep our own individual genders and respect them both.
