Coffee Shots (boozy edition): Nick and Vince’s lock-in

3 June 2014

After a tricky few weeks, Nick Clegg and Vince Cable have decided to thrash things out over a pint of ale. At 11am. The pair are hanging out in a pub (having locked the media outside in the rain, which is possibly one of the cruellest things you can do to a journalist) to promote the reforms to the pub industry that the Lib Dems want to claim as a win from tomorrow’s Queen’s Speech.

Cable finished his pint. It’s strange that Clegg didn’t want to sink his too in celebration of the bitter end of Lord Oakeshott.

Still, an awkward morning pint looks considerably more fun than other food-and-drink-related reconciliations between political heavyweights…

    Bitter, Nick?

Why do people like you blog about this kind of thing? Why make it politically legitimate? I’m beginning to realise that it is the bloggers who are as much to blame as the rest of the Clegg-wits. Just stop this half-witted and unskilled irony. Blog about something interesting; tell us something USEFUL, INTERESTING and yes PROPERLY AMUSING we don’t already

The barman is worried Cleggy might pull a few ml over the (EU prescribed) measure.
And always fun to see the Brownster as Alfred E.Newman.

Are measures prescribed by the EU? I ask because we have two measures in the UK for spirits because of historic differences in Scotland. Where are these measures proposed by the EU? We drink beer in pints.
There are quite a few differencs in the treatment and taxation of alcohol across the EU.

Would have thought that Clogg and Cable would have had enough ABV (Annihilation By Voters) by now.

Clogg’s just ticked off another on his list of ‘100 Things to do while I live in Engerlandland ‘ # 87 – have a pint of English Bitter Beer.

So having been unable to beat Farage they have decided to join him

Yes hilarious, have just seen it on Sky News and these Lib/dums try to brand UKip a one man band who has marketed his brand of two pints of Lager and packet of crisps. You couldn’t make up what a PR disaster much like Clegg’s Tv Debates with Nigel Farage and branding members of UKip as ‘traitors to our country.’

They need some new spin masters pretty quick!

It is nothing short of pathetic. And the media really ought not to report it for that reason. Surely nobody expects us to think it’s real? Political class Kabuki, put on for the public they think we are. What a sad bunch of losers they are.
