Jane Austen! Why can’t we have Anjem Choudary on the new ten pound note?

25 June 2013

I see that they have gone for Jane Austen as the face of the new ten pound note, after a long and bitter row. I find it incredible that they decided not to take the chance to show a true commitment to multicultural diversity and have instead chosen some boring dead white woman.  I wrote to the authorities demanding that the fiery Islamic organiser Anjem Choudary have his face on the note. After all, as taxpayers we give him enough of the stuff every year. But this was rejected out of hand, sadly.

Choudary has backed a new organisation, called Islamic Emergency Defence. The initials are a deliberate reference to the improvised explosive devices which kill our soldiers in Afghanistan, as well as a nod of respect to the English Defence League, an organisation which this half-wit secretly admires. There is still no movement on the £25,000 we pay him in rent each year, despite promises that the whole thing was to be investigated. Would he have got away with this for so long if he was, say, a Methodist imbecile, rather than a Muslim imbecile?

I think we should put Roderick Liddle on the 20 pound note… by patronising the masses and adopting completely unconvincing “Oi’m a decent ordinary man of the people” tones he’s getting plenty of the readies from anyone foolish enough to respond to the advertising on the various media sites and rags which think it worth publish his words carefully calculated to shock in predictable fashion. Shock headline: desperate journalist attacks idiot high-profile islamist …

  • David

She’s wrote mills and boon stuff! Stuff it stick elton John and david furnish on it kissing babies

  • Junis

How many times do we have to hear that the purported innocent British taxpayer pays too much money for the rent of Muslim housing? The culprit for benefits going for high rents is because English landlords have no problem in ripping their tenants off for unremarkable housing. Without trying to be racist, the bad guys are and will be ‘white’. If Thatcher did not decide to allow people to buy their council house, there would be no housing shortage in England. Israel did 9/11 and MI5 did Woolwich. Any ‘white’ guy who does not understand this is fooling himself.

Are you raving, bonkers mad? Go back to your Pakistani cave.

  • thanksdellingpole

Women and common sense don’t often go together. Oh, another day and still they don’t.

  • AlexanderGalt

Continuing the lighter vein there is an interesting article on how to beat Islamism once and for all and without having to invade another benighted Muslim country.

It’s called: “So, What Now?” at:

we can all laugh and make witty comments about this, but the absurdity of the actions taken by Theresa May yesterday is yet another nail in the coffin for freedom of speech. And ironically, friend Anjem will be grinning like a cheshire cat knowing full well he and his cronies are pulling the strings.

    • Icebow

May’s copybook would seem irrevocably blotted. Disgustingly subversive behaviour on her part.

    • retundario

Am I turning into an internet conspiracy theorist or is it strange that
none of the right-wing press publications have covered the Geller/Spencer thing? Not on the Daily Mail, Telegraph, here… only covered by Guardian/Independ/BBC/Huff Post

  • hoo_hah

if I was this guy, it would make me so happy that I was winding up twats like Rod Liddle that I’d quit my job and sign on just to piss them off further.

    • Lamia

He is already on the dole and has been for years. But as long as it pisses Rod Liddle off, it’s obviously an amusing and good thing for the taxpayer to be funding a man whose own supporters have in a number of cases gone on to become terrorists, including the murderers of Lee Rigby. LOLZ, eh?

  • Dogsnob

Nah. Fatcher in that tank wiv them googles on.

    Gives me the orn

  • Robert Taggart

There must have been women of ‘substance’ to chose from – in welfare, science, industry…? – rather than a mere story-teller !

    • Gary Rumain

      Women on welfare, you mean.

  • imnokuffar

Stop his benefits – all of them and pursue him to get an effing job.

  • therealguyfaux

Has nobody considered reviving the proverbial nine-bob note, and printing Clam Chowder’s face on it?

  • Ron Todd

Just wait a few years and anybody who proposes putting a white person on a bank note (monarch included) will be guilty of a hate crime.

  • Mr Grumpy

What makes you think he respects, let alone admires, a bunch of hand-wringing liberals like the EDL? Who have they ever beheaded?

  • zakisbak

I’d support the woman in the burqua idea,as long as it’s made clear that she’s black, transgendered and bisexual.

  • zanzamander

As a face of the British future. I think he is a very good choice. You say they rejected your proposal out of hand, did they give a reason? Should the rest of the new note be in Arabic writing?

  • chan chan

How long will it be before Rod appears on the Facebook page “Behead those who disrepect our Prophet P.B.U.H.”?

    Let’s see…

  • Blazingcatfur
    • Gary Rumain

I’d be tempted to use it as toilet paper.

  • Daniel Maris

I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t build a few houses in West Falklands or St Helena, or South Georgia for those people wishing to claim benefits whilst at the same time also seeking to supplant our democracy with dictatorship. And I think Anjem and his Be-burkaed wives would be suitable candidates for such free housing.

    • Gary Rumain

It’s a good way to get the population up too.

    • DougS

It’s a cunning plan Daniel but has a major flaw………..yoomanrites!

    • Simon Morgan

Maybe the Falkland Islanders will vote to become the Malvinas?

  • Curnonsky

I say print all Choudary’s twenties on pigskin.

  • David Lindsay

    Rod Liddle, I say.

Seriously, replacing Elizabeth Fry (whom Gove also wants to remove from the History syllabus) with Jane Austen, for all her virtues, is part of a thoroughly partisan trend –

    • John Steadman

It would be a great pity of the Gove-ian revolution were to remove Mary Seacole entirely from our lives…..

      • David Lindsay

It certainly would if he erased all memory of Elizabeth Fry, which he really does want to do.

Read the link. Everyone except the Tories is being written out of any popularly understood British history.

Probably because Gove himself, whose intellect is wildly over-praised because the present Cabinet is such a weak field, has sincerely never heard of them.

  • MikeF

Would he then be a Moolah?

  • John Lea

You can’t expect the council to pursuing twats like this – or do anything at all useful. They’re far too busy organising trans-gender reading groups and jihadist poetry workshops.

    • FrankS

Put a woman in a burqa on the note – then you change the identity of the woman whenever you want to without having to change the image.

    • bungopony

Well, yeah. It’s called being “progressive”.Makes me wonder what, exactly,”progressive”is supposed to mean.

  • monkey for sale

Why chose between Jane Austen and Choudary when we could kill two birds with the one stone, so to speak, and have a woman in a burqa ?

    • Teacher

      Cherie Booth’s sister?

      • Gary Rumain

        Lauren? She’s not a tenner, she’s a ten tonner.

  • Darnell Jackson

If we are serious about making a commitment to multicultural diversity then we should include a picture of Allah on our tenners.

    Tennersu akbar

    • edlancey

      Ackers Akbar

    • Gary Rumain

No, you’d want one of Mahound. Then all the arselifters will burn through tenners like crazy.

      • Dogsnob

        What breed is it?

        • Gary Rumain

          A Soddy Barbarian arselifter.

          • Dogsnob

            Uff. Suits you sir.

    • Simon Morgan

Would it then become a crime to burn all my $10 notes in public? They’d better rush that through the statutes straight away.
